A glance at North of Mallorca
This is why you should rent a villa in the North of Mallorca
The North of Mallorca is the favorite area for families. Full of colourful and scenic areas, it is the place where the mountains and the sea meet with beautiful and peaceful towns and villages as well as lovely ports and stunning sandy beaches. This region has also been one of the most popular celebrity holiday destinations too, from Agatha Christie to Winston Churchill and many more – the region has a magic that few people can resist.
This area is full of historical sites and monuments and is home to the oldest city in all the Balearic Islands, Alcudia. This legendary city started off as a village founded by the ancient Phoenicians and Greeks. As time went on it became the foundation of the fairly large Roman city of Pollentia whose ruins can still be found well preserved. Later on it was inhabited by the Byzantynes, then Arabs and then finally by Catalan Christians.
Alcudia is completely surrounded by a defensive wall which was built by King Jaume II to protect its inhabitants, and it remains the only fully preserved town wall in Mallorca. Alcudia remains a major historic hub and traces of its eventful history can be found inside the city’s walls. It is a place we definitely recommend visiting and spending your holidays in some of our handpicked luxury villas in the area.
Port d’Alcudia is a nearby resort town right next to the sea. This town is special for its beaches, restaurants and boat rides to nearby islands and even to Barcelona. This town is very tourist orientated and is a great place to spend the day sunbathing on the beach or shopping around the port.
Another significant town in the area is the ancient town Pollensa. Other famous landmark is the Puig de Pollensa which is a stunning monastery that sits on top of a mountain outside the city. Port de Pollensa is a wonderful place to visit, too, best known as the holiday retreat for many famous people over the years. This port town is close to Pollensa and a beautiful destination to visit during your stay.
