Alaró is a hidden gem at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains. A traditional town where locals and foreigners come together in a peaceful way of life, but on bustling squares and terraces. The village is located in the centre of the island, perfectly positioned for lovers of cycling, hiking or climbing.
Located about 24 km away from Palma. It is known for its spectacular landscape, the flat “twin mountains” and historical “Castell d’Alaró”.
The main attraction in Alaró is the Castell d’Alaro, set atop a mountain with some medieval ruins. But what is really impressive are the views from up there looking at the entire island of Mallorca and the Sierra de Tramuntana. You can access with a two-hour hike from the town or it's possible to drive part of the way up, parking at the restaurant Es Verger, famed for its roast lamb. Once you reach the ruins of the castle you are rewarded with breathtaking views. You can admire the Mallorcan countryside stretching all the way to the bay of Palma while enjoying a well-earned drink from the bar.
